Gospel of the Kingdom

Posted Feb 09, 2011 by Evelyn Ebens in Everlasting Gospel

Mathew wrote in chapter 14:24 And this gospel of the Kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all nations, and then the END will come.

Mathew 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you.

The Young Concordance explains the word as Good News or Tidings.

Good news about whom…what…and what does the gospel require?

Colossians 1:5 We give thanks to the God (and) FATHER of our Lord Jesus Christ-praying always for you, since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and your love for all the saints; because of the HOPE which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the TRUTH.

So the gospel gives us ‘faith in Jesus’ ‘love for the saints’ hope’ ‘heaven’ and the word of Truth.*

What then is the kingdom we are to preach about? Mathew 3:2 Repent…for the kingdom of Heaven is at hand. This kingdom is Heaven but there’s more! Jesus said at that time ‘is at hand’ Mathew 5:3 ‘Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.’ Let us consider the Lord’s Prayer in Mathew 6:10—‘Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.’We learn that this kingdom is like a tiny mustard seed, and it grows large. It is likened to a treasure hidden in a field. Mathew 13:

Most amazing is that what Jesus said in Luke 17: 21 ’the Kingdom of God is within you!’

Here are some important texts which refer to the Gospel= Mark 8:35* Acts 20:24

1 Cor. 9:12* 2 Cor 4:3-4 * 2 Cor 9:13 *

2 Cor. 11:3—it is simple!

Galations 1:7—will man seek to pervert this precious Gospel of the Kingdom? YES!

Mathew 5:10,11* Will we be persecuted if we preach the Gospel? Jesus said so.

Now let us look at Peter, Phillip, Paul and Stephen to see how they preached the gospel!

On that great day when 3000 souls were baptized—Acts 2:30,34,36 “ and they were cut to the heart’ verse 38 “Repent and be baptized’

Read about Peter and John in Acts:3= they had just healed the lame man at the gate Beautiful, then Peter addressed the people and preached the gospel to them. He asked them to repent …and in verse 26 =‘To you God, having raised up His servant Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turn away everyone of you from your iniquities.’ And in verse 20..he refers to the Spirit of Christ, which Jesus would send. He will help us to find and stay in the Kingdom!

Acts 7 tells us of the sad end of dear Stephen. Read this chapter where he gives his listeners a history of their people then in verse 51*,…he went for the jugulars, and those priests were gnashing their teeth with rage! Perhaps this is a lesson on how to not provoke people when preaching the gospel heh.

Then as they were stoning him to death—Stephen was given a beautiful vision of Heaven and with face of an angel- Verse 55-56 * Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.

In Acts chapter 8, we meet Phillip, whom God used so mightily-there was great joy in that city Verse8. In verse 26, he is called to go out and meet a man of authority, an Ethiopian. Phillip sat in his chariot and explained the gospel from the book of Isaiah, which the man had been reading. Read through to verse 35, where we see Phillip then preached Jesus to him and as the man was being baptized he said ‘I believe that Jesus Christ IS the Son of God.’..and he went on his way rejoicing.verse 39.

Now we meet Saul, a very educated man, who had been persecuting the Christians Chapter 8 and 9 :5 * a light shone round him from heaven. Then he fell to the ground---the Lord said ‘I am Jesus whom you persecuting.’ Saul became a wonderful missionary for Christ and in verse 20= He preached the Christ in the synagues, that---

He is the Son of God!

It seems to me, that when we believe and confess that Jesus is the very Son of God—

We will go on our way rejoicing
