HOW DO WE STAND?

Posted May 10, 2010 by Graham Tierney in Praise Fellowship Feedback and Sharing

As I was praying for my regular prayer list circumstances, projects, protection and shielding for our leader, his family and generally communing with my Heavenly Father this morning I had, what appeared at the time, to be a "strange" impression to write a blog entry in reference to our Fountarian Covenant. For those who do not know about our Fountarian Covenant it can be found as you browse the god-head.com site. It was framed by several members of the community because the general feeling was that we we wished to honour our Heavenly Father and His Literal Son Michael Christ Jesus as the Fountain of our lives and we did not wish to have the word Trinity or any of it's derivatives in our description, so "Fountarian" came into being. I might add that this in NO WAY is a denominational title! We are proudly Seventh-day Adventists but DO NOT ascribe to a triune god. Anyhow, back to my story.

I was impressed to use a Spirit of Prophecy (S.O.P.) quotation which was given to me as I opened my Bible. It was a quote I had written many years before at the bottom of a page and I doubt I would have found it had it not been shown me.

The impression seemed to be to write a "warning" message for us all, including our Adventist Church and it's current Leaders and Ministers and to use the given quotation.

In my mind the impression seemed to wax and wane so eventually, because I do not consider myself a writer, I ignored it. UNTIL, in the afternoon Adrian Ebens and myself were kneeling together preparatory to praying, using Skype as our communication means, when he said "Graham let us covenant that when we pray we will uplift at least one article of our Fountarian Covenant before God".

"Bling"! It was like a light went on in my head! My mind goes back to my morning impression and I realised that it was what The Spirit of God was impressing upon me earlier in the day.

After we had completed putting "concentrated fire" in for our prayer targets, I told Adrian about the impression and the given quote, which he quickly found and decided to post it at the bottom of the Covenant.

Now, I am going to ask you who read this, and myself, what the Holy Spirit of God was impressing me to ask.... How Do We Stand? I will also repeat the S.O.P. quote because (a) I need to keep faith with my Saviour and (b) This question is for ALL of us to ponder. By the way the question is the title Ellen White used for her article.

"The solemn question should come home to every member of our churches, How are we standing before God, as the professed followers of Jesus Christ? Is our light shining forth to the world in clear, steady rays? Have we, as a people solemnly dedicated to God, preserved our union with the Source of all light? Are not the symptoms of decay and declension painfully visible in the midst of the Christian churches of today? Spiritual death has come upon the people that should be manifesting life and zeal, purity and consecration, by the most earnest devotion to the cause of truth. The facts concerning the real condition of the professed people of God, speak more loudly than their profession, and make it evident that some power has cut the cable that anchored them to the Eternal Rock, and that they are drifting away to sea, without chart or compass. {RH, July 24, 1888 par. 1}

NOTE: This quotation is from an article written only three short months before the 1888 General Conference Session of that year.

These questions and the accompaying statements were first asked and stated 122 years ago! The antedeluvians were given 120 years when "The LORD said My Spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years". Gen 6:3

Do we have the wisdom to ask ourselves these questions and to give an honest answer to our God who is waiting to help us?

"We cannot obtain wisdom without earnest attention and prayerful study....Scripture must be compared with scripture. There must be careful research and prayerful reflection....The words of inspiration pondered in the heart, will be as streams flowing from the fountain of life." Steps To Christ (SC) p 91

I am an elected Armour Bearer (Prayer Warrior) so my work is to pray for our Community Families, our Church Leaders (I didn't always see the need for this, until Christ showed me the necessity in February 2009 - Now, by His grace, I will not stop), those in need and of course my own family.

I suppose in stating this, I am asking ALL who are willing, to join me each day at a time suitable to themselves, to join myself and other Fountarians in praying for deliverance from captivity for ourselves and our beloved church. The Fountarian Covenant is there for the agreeing and remember, IF or WHEN you agree with it's articles, you are covenanting with the Father and His Literal Son, NOT just a group of people with like faith.

I will leave you with a worldly thought, IF it is to be, IT is up to ME! And the words of a thought filled hymn and more questions to ponder:

"The judgment has set the books have been opened; how shall we stand in that great day? When every thought and word and action, God the righteous judge shall weigh?

How shall we stand in that great day? How shall we stand in that great day? Shall we be found before Him wanting? Or with our sins all washed away?

May The Literal Son of The Almighty God be with us all! Is my earnest prayer in Christ's Name.
