It was a couple of weeks back that I was going through the Sabbath School lesson. The one I was reading was on Abraham and Issac. I've read that story numerous times, but I have NEVER seen this before. It all but brought tears to my eyes. As I read of Issac carrying the wood up to Mt. Moriah, it dawned on me that my Saviour also carried the wood--his cross--to Calvary.
I have always known that the story of Abraham and Issac was a parable and parallel of God the Father and our Saviour, but now I know it's a truth in reality. For God to ask Abraham to offer his only begotten son as proof of his love for God would have been such a mean thing to do had not God been willing to offer His only begotten Son to die for my sins. Issac was spared the death, while Christ willingly died in my stead. God stayed the hand of Abraham, while Christ cried out from the cross, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" I pray that people's eyes will be opened to see the truth of the Godhead.
