Eros & our current depiction of the Trinity

One of the defences which some of our most vociferous Pastors use to try and validate their belief in the Trinity, is the argument that God needs another divine Person to give love and reciprocate love - which is a conception of love which is steeped in Eros. It is enunciated in language which is remarkably similar to the following quotation:

" . . . God is a society of mutual self-giving love among the Three Persons of the Trinity." (`Catholic Christianity: a complete catechism of Catholic beliefs based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church', P. Kreeft, 2001, p. 351. Nihil obstat and Imprimatur were granted by Rev. Milton T. Walsh, S.T.D& Most Rev. William J. Levada, Archbishop of San Francisco, Jan. 23, 2001. `The nihil obstat and Imprimatur are official declarations that a book or pamphlet is free of doctrinal or moral error.', p. 4.)

Hmmm. This Catholic Catechism really does sounds remarkably similar to the language which some of our most prominent Pastors are currently using. Or perhaps it's the other way around! It seems that the 3rd century church "Father" Origen Adamantius was right - "God is Eros!" What say ye?
