Mankind's Spiritual Husband: The Holy Place Experience

For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband,
that I may present you as a chaste virgin to the Messiah.” 2 Corinthians 11:2

YHWH, our heavenly Father, is drawing all men unto Himself through the fellowship of His Son. YHWH knows that when we realize the magnitude of the gift He has given us in His Son as the “greatest dowry every paid” and the “largest inheritance ever received”, that “His goodness will lead to humanity’s repentance (Romans 2:4).

This series shows how one grows from a baby born again Christian into the bride of Yahushua waiting for His soon return and how that growth corresponds with the different segments of the sanctuary.

We continue with a look at the largest inheritance ever received and the Holy Place experience.

The Largest Inheritance ever received—The Father’s Holy Spirit

through the “lordship” of His Son within our life

The Consummation of our Spirit with Yahushua’s spirit

The Holy Place Experience

One can go through the wedding ceremony, have the license signed by the couple and their chosen witnesses, and still have the marriage annulled until the couple has joined together and consummated the marriage. Yahushua legally gave the engagement gift to all humanity. 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 says that Yahushua died for all. Romans 5:6-8 says that we see wonderful love in the fact that YHWH sent His Son to die for the ungodly. What a wonderful hope—we do not need to be perfectly clean to accept the engagement gift of Yahushua’s death.

Consummation normally takes place in a bed. Hebrews 13:5 says, “Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.” Isaiah 57:7-8 paints a picture of Israel moving away from their Maker-husband of Isaiah 54 and enlarging their bed for other lovers. The result of enlarging their bed is that pretty soon Israel desires the bed of its lover and not the bed of Yahushua. Isaiah uses the symbol of a bed to illustrate faithfulness to the marriage covenant, as well as being faithful to YHWH.

What covenant does this bed illustrate? The new covenant the heavenly Father has promised is that He will write His laws within our hearts (Jeremiah 31:31) by His Spirit rather than on two tables of stone with His finger. He promises to take away our stony heart and give us a heart of flesh whereby we can keep His statutes and judgments by HIS spirit (Jeremiah 36:26, 27). Did you notice that we still have not cleaned ourselves up even when we get “into bed” with Yahushua. The Bible uses the sanctuary service as a symbol of the Christian’s walk. The courtyard experience tells of a perfect lamb being slain. This lamb is a symbol of the Lamb of YHWH, Yahushua the Messiah, dying for our sins. The courtyard experience is our engagement to Yahushua in that we received a judicial document for our marriage to Him signed with His very own blood.

In ancient times a loving father would give the dowry paid by the suitor to his daughter as her inheritance on her wedding day. Because of this gift she, and her future children if any, would have a stable future. Spiritually speaking, our Heavenly Father gives the dowry of His Son’s death back to us in His Son’s resurrected life. What is so powerful in the gift of His Son’s life? The Son’s life provides us with eternal life when we consummate our spirit with His spirit. The indwelling presence of Yahushua is the largest inheritance ever given in that, we are not only justified by the Lamb of YHWH, but we can now become the adopted children of YHWH through the gift of the Father’s Spirit we can receive through His Son.

As a child we are taught NOT to ask for gifts, or at least encouraged not to tell people what we would like to have for a gift, but our Heavenly Father tells us to ask for the gift of the Holy Spirit which He will gladly give us (Luke 11:13). When one receives a gift, it has one of two purposes. Either it will be a “pretty” and sit on a shelf, or it is something useful that we can use. If I receive a blender for a gift, I expect to use it. I would think you were “off your rocker” if you gave me a blender and then said, “Now the blender is going to USE YOU in making great meals for your family.” This is how it is with the gift of the Spirit. The gift of the Spirit doesn’t submit to us, we submit to it. It is a picture totally foreign to our thinking. ……………

Receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit

1- YHWH is the Father of Spirits (Hebrews 12:9)

2- If ye then being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? (Luke 11:13).

3- YHWH gives us HIS holy spirit (1 Thessalonians 4:8)

4- Through His Son who is a quickening [#2227 life giving] spirit (1 Corinthians 15:45).

5- Now the Lord is that Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty. But we all with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord” (2 Corinthians 3:17-18), for he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit (1 Corinthians. 6:17). Rewritten with the restored names: “Now YHWH is that Spirit and where the Spirit of YHWH is there is liberty. But we all with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of YHWH, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of YHWH. …for he that is joined unto YHWH is one spirit.”

6- “But now the righteousness of without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe.” Romans 3:21, 22

How we are joined to the spirit of our heavenly Father is by living by His Son’s faith and being covered by the Son’s righteousness. This is explained by the Vine/branch relationship of John chapter 15; the engrafting of the wild branch into the “natural” root of Romans 11:16-23; and living by the faith/righteousness of Yahushua (Galatians 2:20; Ephesians 3:12; and Romans 3:21, 22)

To receive the gift of the Holy Spirit is to receive the only begotten Son as Sovereign of our life. This concept was foreign to Yahushua’s disciples, too. But watch how He leads them through this concept of submitting to a gift.

The day following the feeding of the 5,000 men, Jesus is talking with a group of followers. He tells them to labor for the meat that endures unto everlasting life. They ask Him, “What shall we do, that we might do the works of God?” (John 6:27-28). Listen to Yahushua’s response. “This is the work of God, that ye BELIEVE on him whom he hath sent.” Then the disciples respond by saying, “What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? What dost thou work” (John 6:30)? They’re telling Yahushua, “O.K., if it is my job to believe in You, how will we know that YOU are working?”

The answer is in understanding the activity and duties of the high priest within the sanctuary service. Yahushua has received authority to give us the gift of the Holy Spirit from His Father (Acts 2:33). When we are baptized, we are born of the spirit. We accept Yahushua as our Redeemer. As we allow Him to dwell within and sanctify us by the consummation of the spirit, we will bear the fruit of the spirit. The fruit of the spirit shows to everyone that we are submitting to the gift of the Spiritual Adam, the Bridegroom Yahushua. To have the spirit of Yahushua dwell in us is to receive the mind of Yahushua (Philippians 2:5). As we submit to our spiritual Husband, love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance will appear in us, for we are walking in the Spirit. Yahushua’s righteousness is the wedding garment we must have to enter into our physical marriage with Him at His second coming. We can come just as we are to the altar in the courtyard, but we must possess the indwelling Yahushua –His garment of righteousness before we enter into marriage with Him. Our marriage to Him at His second coming is referred to as the “consummation of our redemption” or the redemption of our bodies” (Romans 8:23). Uniting our spirit with Yahushua’s enables one to receive immortality.

The gift of the spirit is illustrated in the sanctuary by the work of the high priest. It was the duty of the high priest to sanctify the people through the services ordained, one of which was giving a gift of blood, in other words, offering the blood of the rams and bulls that had been sacrificed. The high priest officiated in all three compartments of the sanctuary—the courtyard, the holy place, and the most holy place. Throughout the year the high priest worked in the courtyard and the holy place while only once a year was he able to enter the most holy place. This day was called the Day of Atonement. It symbolized the time when YHWH the Father would again be at-one-ment with mankind. Between the holy place and the most holy place was a veil. This veil represented Yahushua as the One who gives fellowship access to the Father. (Yahushua was represented as the only door (path/access) to the Father for our justification by the doorway into the courtyard; now within the sanctuary itself we see that Yahushua is also the door (path—means whereby we can have fellowship access with the Father). Until Yahushua’s death, He veiled us from the light of the Father’s glory. By participating in the services of the sanctuary, the people expressed their faith in believing on Yahushua as the promised Messiah and High Priest of YHWH’s spiritual family. After Yahushua died on the cross and fulfilled the contract with His Father, the veil was torn in two representing a way that humanity could once again have fellowship with the Father. This fellowship would be possible through having the faith OF Yahushua, their Sanctifier. This concept is represented by the bride’s wedding veil. When the couple is pronounced man and wife, the veil is turned back and the groom kisses the bride. When the veil is removed from the bride’s face, she has greater access to her husband and his family than she ever had before. Yahushua is our High Priest; He is the sanctifier of His bride. He does this by giving the gift of His blood—a royal blood with eternal life coursing through it. As the Son of YHWH with royal blood, Yahushua has the right to give the gift of the Holy Spirit. He is the “Holy Ghost who shed His blood for us” (Acts 20:28). We are one with Yahushua when we submit by faith to His indwelling presence. When we submit to His word, we “let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 2:5).

In consummating a marriage, the woman has to make a conscious, loving choice to submit her body to her husband. In our spiritual life, we must die to self, and submit to having Yahushua’s faith/spirit/mind dwell within us. By doing this Yahushua becomes our Savior AND Sovereign—His death reconciles us with the Father in that our past sins are forgiven; His life abiding in our hearts by our submission to His spirit sanctifies us; He has become Sovereign of our life. Yahushua is the head of the spiritual body. The spiritual body is a body of believers in YHWH having the “Faith of the Son”. It is called the church. If a woman is taken in force, it is considered a rape. Some men have been accused of raping their wife. Yahushua never forces His way into our lives; the seed of His spirit is only planted within us when we are willing to receive it. “Believe on the Master Yahushua the Messiah and thou shalt be saved” is to believe that the Son of YHWH died for us while we are yet sinners, and that He will sanctify us by His indwelling presence that brings us into the fellowship with the Father. The result of this union is that we will bear the fruit of the Spirit [Galatians 5:22-25] of our Husband—love, joy, peace, etc.
