Preparing for the Owners Visit

Posted Nov 26, 2011 by Lorelle Ebens in Devotional - Blog

This week the owners of the house we are renting came to visit.  The husband had not seen it for 4 years, and wanted to view it's condition etc. We love living in this house, so wanted to make a good impression, to ensure they would be happy continuing to rent it to us.

To make sure the house and garden were as clean and tidy as we could, we spent a few days doing extra to the normal cleaning - cleaning things you don't do very often - like windows, removing cob-webs, marks off walls, stove-tops, and weeding the garden.  I was grateful for the willing help I had from my son and husband.  We had our own little "working bee."  It is lovely when all is clean and tidy.  The jobs needed doing, and the owner's visit gave us a good excuse to get them done.

I Corinthians 3:16 & 17: Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
I Corinthians 6:19: What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
II Corinthians 6:16: And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

We are not our own, we are stewards over God's property.  We could look at the Investigative Judgement as one part of "The Owner's Visit" - inspection, to see if we can stay dwelling in His property.  Then the real visit by the owner will be the Second Coming of Christ.

Am I preparing as well as I could - cleaning my character with the resources He has provided - preparing for "The Owner's Visit"?
