The Word is near you

After our last Wednesday night presentation on Christ our High Priest Lorelle and I have been mediating on how close our dear Saviour is to us. E.J. Waggoner wrote

Christ has come in the flesh, my flesh. Why? Is it because I am so good? - O, no; for there is no good flesh for Christ to come into. Christ has come in the flesh, in every man's flesh. "That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world." The life is the light, and lights every man. In other words, every man in this world lives upon the grace of God. "It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed;" and that is true of the man who blasphemes God. Where did that man get his breath? - From God. God continues breath to him in his wickedness, in order that the gift may reveal God's goodness and he repent; for it is the goodness of God. He is kind to the evil and the good; he sends rain upon the just and the unjust; that is God. {February 18, 1897 EJW, GCDB 70.11}

I have been thinking of how Christ upholds every man and woman and child and the times I have thought harsh thoughts of others or wanted to distance myself from a person and really I am desiring to distance from a child of God who is upheld by Christ. I say Lord Jesus help me not to pierce you with harsh or selfish thoughts. If I do this to others I do it to you.

This morning my wife Lorelle was feeling sadness and she didn't really know why. She thought of how Jesus knows everything we feel and she rested in that thought. A few minutes later I came out of my office and this thought came to my mind, give Lorelle a hug. It was so clear, that I was sure it was our Saviour prompting me so I immediately listened to the prompt and went and gave Lorelle a hug. Then I saw she had tears and thought now I know why I had to deliver this hug from Jesus. She was amazed that as she rested in Christ she was then confident that Jesus would supply her needs and help her and within a few minutes I gave her a hug. We were both praising our Lord Jesus when we realised the whole story. How thoughtful is our Saviour and how much He cares for us.

May you rest in Christ this Sabbath and know His love always.
