I have read several times about the idea that for God to be love there must be more than one person for that love to exist. The key text that is used is 1 John 4:8 that God is love.
The God of the Bible is a triune Being because HE IS LOVE. Love cannot be exercised in isolation. You cannot be all-loving and be alone at the same time. Love is manifested in relationships. Augustine expressed this truth eloquently, when he said: “Ubi amor, ibi trinitas—Where there love, there is a trinity.” By that he meant, that where there…

It's not easy to confess that I know nothing about this agape. My selfish heart knows nothing of this kind of selfless love. Intellectually it is not difficult to understand, but it is a heart experience that I do not now possess. The statement below is truly my experience to this point. Would you please pray for me?

"Ordinary human love is dependent on the beauty or goodness of its object. We naturally choose friends who are nice to us, who please us. We fall in love with our sexual opposite who is beautiful, happy, intelligent, and attractive (in…

Preface
"I may be able to speak the languages of men and even of angels, but if I have no agape, my speech is no more than a noisy gong or a clanging bell.
"I may have the gift of inspired preaching; I may have all knowledge and understand all secrets; I may have all the faith needed to move mountains—but if I have no agape, I am nothing.
"I may give away everything I have, and even give up my body to be burned — but if I have no agape, this does me no good." (Paul in 1…

Three reasons why Jesus was crucified and not stoned.
Although Jesus was perfectly innocent of all false charges the Jews imposed upon Him (Luke 23:14; John 8:46; 18:38; 19:6), more than once they accused Him of blasphemy and plotted His death. (Matt 26:65; Mark 14:64; John…

Recently I read a short story written by Frank R Stockton entitled A Jerseyman And His Royal Crown. While reading, I began to see some striking parallels and contrasts between Stockton’s account, and a story I and most, if not all readers of…

The life of Christ and His message disrupted the ancient world, both devout Jews and also the pagan and intellectual world represented at that time by the Greeks. What specifically did this message consist of? The answer to this question is centered on the love of God, and what Christ and His apostles preached and lived.

The Doctrine of Christ - W.W. Prescott (1920)
INTRODUCTORY NOTE
The aim of these lessons is to present the essential doctrines of the everlasting gospel in their direct relation to the person of Christ, in order that the student may see and lay hold upon the truth as it
is in Jesus. No effort has been made to develop a scheme of systematic theology, and there is no discussion of a merely abstract theology; but the emphasis has been placed upon the meaning of the revelation of Christ as an experience in the life. A doctrine which is a mere…

The gospel is hidden in every book of the bible. It is for this reason that the author "Robert Wieland" calls the book: "The Gospel in Daniel". An excellent study tool that takes a totally Christ-centered approach. Now in a new Big print edition (A4) you will enjoy this prophetic journey.
"A brief note: we are not trying to blaze the way to some new discovery in history or theology. Our goal is to find the gospel in Daniel and open it so it makes sense all the way through to the ordinary reader. May our efforts bring you many…

It is truly ironic, and even strange that many SDA's don't believe the Son of God ever died. The reason many believe such, stems NOT from biblical revelation, or misinterpretation. The reason many believe this way is the direct result from misinterpreting the following Ellen white quotation copied from John Harris. It should be helpful for the candid reader to interpret EGW's quotation within the context of the overall presentation by Harris.EGWWas the human nature of the Son of Mary changed into the divine nature of the Son of God? No; the two natures were mysteriously blended in one person—the…

Denis Kaiser, Ph.D. student in Adventist Studies and Historical Theology at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary in Berrien Springs, MI, presented his research on the topic: “The Reception of Ellen White’s Trinitarian Statements by Her Contemporaries (1897–1915).”
Introduction
Kaiser pointed out that various scholars had already done historical research on the semi-Arian position of the early Seventh-day Adventists, the development to the Trinitarian position, and Ellen White’s role in that developmental process. Researchers who had looked at Ellen White’s writings paid primarily attention to the content of her Trinitarian statements and the authenticity of the original handwritten and typed manuscripts…

The purpose of this series is to try and draw down some practical implications of what our understanding of the Father and Son relationship does to our families, churches and communities in terms of blessing or cursing. I am trying to show that there is a world of difference between the “Son” in the Trinity and the Son of the living God as revealed in Scripture. Hopefully by now you will have the sense that every aspect of our life experience is touched and affected in some way.
In this chapter I want to explore the in close detail the…

The subject of the Holy Spirit is a mystery to us in many ways. Jesus indicated the mysterious nature of the Spirit when speaking to Nicodemus.
Joh 3:8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit."
Perhaps it would be good to remind ourselves of the care needed when discussing such a subject as this. When discussing the personality of God we are on Holy Ground and must approach it reverently taking great care to…

A. Pioneers Given Great Light Concerning Person of Christ
Ellen White describes the Adventists experience as one that was lead step by step onto a solid immovable platform.
I was again brought down through these messages, and saw how dearly the people of God had purchased their experience. It had been obtained through much suffering and severe conflict. God had led them along step by step, until He had placed them upon a solid, immovable platform. EW 259 (1882)

A. Life/Blessing flow through the Individual Channel
Eze 14:14 Even if these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they would deliver only themselves by their righteousness," says the Lord God.
People are saved as individuals and the ultimate responsibility for a person’s salvation is themselves. The channel of blessing for the individual comes through personal prayer and Bible study. Through this process a person receives spiritual life directly from God and is blessed and guided. In terms of receiving instruction the only authority that the conscience can completely submit to is the Bible and the Bible alone.…

How do we consider the quality of the love which God has for us?
The Greeks believed that the greatest form of love there is, is that a man lay down his life for his friends. Imagine the shock they received, when the Christians of the first century told them that this wasn't really `it' at all, for the greatest form of love is that a Man should lay down His life for His enemies! (Romans 5: 10)
They believed that the souls of men originated in the one-in-all pantheist God, which infused small parts of itself into all matter.…

From the time that Lucifer (who is also known as Satan, or the Devil), first entertained thoughts of rebellion against God, to when sin is finally vanquished when death is cast into the `lake of fire' with him (Revelation 20: 10, 14), the entire issue of salvation has from eternity hinged upon the principle of the character of God, in contrast to the character of Satan. Philippians 2: 5 - 8 contrasts the selfless mind of Christ (of which we are exhorted to partake of), with the selfish mind of Lucifer, the fallen angel of God:`Let this mind be in…
