He [Christ] spoke of God, not as an avenging judge, but as a tender father, and He revealed the image of God as mirrored in Himself. His words were like balm to the wounded spirit. Both by His words and by His works of mercy He was breaking the oppressive power of the old traditions and man-made commandments, and presenting the love of God in its exhaustless fullness.

Waggoner, 1888, The Covenants and a Prophets Endorsement

Part of series Gospel Anchor Series

The centre of conflict centred around the Law and the Covenants in Galatians. Several leaders tried to shut Waggoner down but Ellen White simply wanted to hear what he had to say.

Waggoner taught that the covenants are a matter of experience and both extend from the beginning of the fall of man to the end of this world as opposed to the traditional view of most pioneer leaders.

In 1890 Ellen White was shown that Waggoner had the truth on the covenant question and that what he presented was vital to a correct understanding of Righteousness by faith
