Satan’s work is to condemn and destroy, to take away man’s liberty and destroy his life. Transgression always leads men to act as Satan’s agents, to carry out his purposes against God and righteousness. In Nazareth Christ announced that His work was to restore and uplift, to bring peace and happiness. He came to this world to represent the Father, and He revealed His divine power by giving life to the dead, by restoring the sick and suffering to soundness and health. He was in this world as the tree of life. Satan is at war with Christ, the divine Restorer.

In the lead up to 1844 the 2nd coming of Jesus was preached all over the world. One man, unconnected with the Miller-ite movement in the United States of America, was more influential in preaching the literal prophetic understand-ing of Daniel and Revelation than any other - Joseph Wolff - known in his time as "Missionary to the World," a moniker agreed to by Ellen White, who used it in her book The Great Controversy.

Joseph Wolff preached in lands who hadn't heard the gospel preached in centuries. He spoke to kings and peasants, slave raiders and prostitutes. We have much to learn from him if we want to take the last message of mercy to a dying world.
