In 1 John 4, verse 8, the beloved disciple tells us: ''He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love". These words, of such profound meaning, intensely challenge every student of the Scriptures. It presents us two actions in the human heart: one in his relationship with God, and the other in his relationship with his neighbor. The action of knowing God will trigger the action of loving our neighbor. If we do not love our brother, it is because we do not yet know God. If for any reason we harbor feelings other than love for any of our brethren, it is because we have not yet known God as we ought to know Him. In that sense, our lukewarmness is a problem of knowledge! If we would know the Lord as He is, as He is revealed in the Scriptures, if we would know Him in our daily life, we would love. We would love because we would know that He loved us first. We love because it would be impossible for us to silence the love of God that bums like fire in our hearts. In this book we attempt, through Bible verses, to provide guidance in knowing who God is. The verses related to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are considered and analyzed. In addition, quotations from Ellen White have been compiled so that the interested reader can have a full understanding of what she believed. It is the author's desire that through this study we may know God, and in knowing Him find His love that He promises so much to the one who receives it.
