God did not design that the people should do any fighting. He led them through the wilderness, in order that they might not see war. Yet He knew that if they went the way that they did, the Egyptians would surely pursue them. The children of Israel never had any greater need of fighting than they did when the Egyptians closed in on them by the Red Sea; yet the word then was, "The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace."

The experiences of the Apostles will leave any reader amazed. What would drive men to abandon the comforts of their homes, go on long and dangerous journeys, and risk being whipped, imprisoned and killed, just to share the Gospel? What did their message have; that they were willing to joyfully give up everything, even their lives, just so others could hear it?

As we read the stories of these men, we will better understand what moved them. It was the pure, selfless, forgiving and compassionate love that they had experienced with Jesus. This love manifested in Jesus helped them to understand the everlasting love of the Father for them. This amazing love filled their thoughts and touched their hearts, and they could not help but share it with others.

We pray that, as God's last day people, the enthusiasm of the Apostles for the Gospel can also become our own. May the stories in this book help you and your children to grow in your understanding of God's love for you, and may it fuel your enthusiasm for living a life led by the Spirit of God just like Apostles did.
