CHRIST AND THE LAW

Today I have had read a statement as this: “Christ and the law cannot co-exist at the pinnacle, one has to go down in order that the other should be lifted up”.

The idea is clear, you can’t in the same time lift up both the law and Christ. If you want to lift up Christ you must take down the law. The more are you lower down the law the more are you lifted up Christ. So, in order to put Christ on the highest point you need to put the law on the lowest point. In other words, to nullify it.

But let’s see if this is so. Let’s read this statement from the Spirit Of Prophecy:

“Those who are teaching this doctrine today have much to say in regard to faith and the righteousness of Christ; but they pervert the truth, and make it serve the cause of error. They declare that we have only to believe on Jesus Christ, and that faith is all-sufficient: that the righteousness of Christ is to be the sinner's credentials; that this imputed righteousness fulfills the law for us, and that we are under no obligation to obey the law of God. This class claim that Christ came to save sinners, and that He has saved them. "I am saved," they will repeat over and over again. But are they saved while transgressing the law of Jehovah?--No; for the garments of Christ's righteousness are not a cloak for iniquity. Such teaching is a gross deception, and Christ becomes to these persons a stumbling block as He did to the Jews,--to the Jews, because they would not receive Him as their personal Saviour, to these professed believers in Christ, because they SEPARATE CHRIST AND THE LAW, and regard faith as a substitute for obedience. They SEPARATE THE FATHER AND THE SON, the Saviour of the world. Virtually they teach, both by precept and example, that Christ, by His death, saves men in their transgressions.” BEcho, February 8, 1897

Please read carefully, those who try to separate Christ and the law are trying to separate the Father and the Son. In other words, if you believe that Christ and the law “can’t co-exist at the pinnacle” and that in order that Christ be lifted up you must lower down the law you by this separate the Father and the Son as they can't co-exist at the pinnacle and try to lift up the one by lower down the other. Do you understand? In order that you lift up the Father you need to lower down Christ and inverse, if you want to lift up Christ you need to lower down the Father.

Is this what the Word of God teach? The Bible says:

“That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.” John 5: 23

There is not content between the Father and the Son. They are one. They two can co-exist at the pinnacle, you don’t need to lower down one in order to lift up another. Please do not try to do this.

In the same way there is no disagreement between Christ and the law. They are inseparable. They are one. They can co-exist at the pinnacle and you don’t need to lower down one in order to lift up another.

Please read also these precious statements from the pen of inspiration:

“Justice and mercy are blended. Christ and the law stand side by side. The law convicts the transgressor, and Christ pleads in the sinner's behalf.” ST, August 25, 1887

“The grace of Christ and the law of God are inseparable. 1SM 349

“We must preach Christ in the law, and there will be sap and nourishment in the preaching that will be as food to the famishing flock of God.” 1888 560

(Please keep in mind that my purpose was not to comment or accuse the author of the statement at the beginning of this article but I used his statement in order to express my understanding regarding the Christ and the law)
