Destroy by Casting Off

I was just doing a little word study on the angels sent to destroy Sodom and I found something very interesting.

Gen 19:13  For we will destroy [H7843 Hiphil] this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent [H7971] us to destroy [H7843 Piel] it.

Here is the context for destruction:

Meaning of Destroy. Notice the bolded definitions

[H7843] A primitive root; to decay, that is, (causatively) ruin (literally or figuratively): - batter, cast off, corrupt (-er, thing), destroy (-er, -uction), lose, mar, perish, spill, spoiler, X utterly, waste (-r).

Amos 1:11  Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off [H7843 Piel] all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:

Pro 23:8  The morsel which thou hast eaten shalt thou vomit up, and lose [H7843] thy sweet words.

Now let’s read this again with the words cast off. Gen 19:13  For we will cast off [H7843] this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent [H7971] us to cast [H7843] it off.

Did God send these angels to instruct those who were protecting the city to stand down?

Can we validate this reading of Cast off?

I was shown that the judgments of God would not come directly out from the Lord upon them, but in this way: They place themselves beyond His protection. He warns, corrects, reproves, and points out the only path of safety; then if those who have been the objects of His special care will follow their own course independent of the Spirit of God, after repeated warnings, if they choose their own way, then He does not commission His angels to prevent Satan's decided attacks upon them. 14MR 3

God keeps a reckoning with the nations. Not a sparrow falls to the ground without His notice. Those who work evil toward their fellow men, saying, How doth God know? will one day be called upon to meet long-deferred vengeance. In this age a more than common contempt is shown to God. Men have reached a point in insolence and disobedience which shows that their cup of iniquity is almost full. Many have well-nigh passed the boundary of mercy. Soon God will show that He is indeed the living God. He will say to the angels, "No longer combat Satan in his efforts to destroy. Let him work out his malignity upon the children of disobedience; for the cup of their iniquity is full. They have advanced from one degree of wickedness to another, adding daily to their lawlessness. I will no longer interfere to prevent the destroyer from doing his work." RH Sept 17 1901

Does Prov 23:8 have a warning for Laodicea?

Pro 23:8  The morsel which thou hast eaten shalt thou vomit up, and lose [H7843] thy sweet words.

Rev 3:16  So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

I saw that God had children who do not see and keep the Sabbath. They have not rejected the light upon it. And at the commencement of the time of trouble, we were filled with the Holy Ghost as we went forth and proclaimed the Sabbath more fully. This enraged the churches and nominal Adventists, [SEE ALSO APPENDIX.] as they could not refute the Sabbath truth. And at this time God's chosen all saw clearly that we had the truth, and they came out and endured the persecution with us. I saw [34] the sword, famine, pestilence, and great confusion in the land. The wicked thought that we had brought the judgments upon them, and they rose up and took counsel to rid the earth of us, thinking that then the evil would be stayed.  {EW 33.2}

Lev 26:25  And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall avenge [long deferred vengeance] the quarrel of my covenant: and when ye are gathered together within your cities, I will send the pestilence among you; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.

Is the vomiting out in Laodicea the result of refusing to come into the everlasting covenant and that like Sodom they are finally cast off?

Something to Ponder
