And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. Matt 25:40

Two nights ago my wife Lorelle came to me with a deep concern about the many homeless people suffering in the cold as it has been very cold for the south east of Australia the past week. She indicated that a number of times this thought had come to her and that it often comes to her when it is cold.

I said well let's ask our Father to show us what we can do to help people who are suffering in the cold. So we knelt and prayed asking to be able to do something for His cold and suffering children.

The next morning, I opened my facebook feed and the first thing I saw was an appeal for funds to help people get blankets to deal with the cold. One of my friends had tagged me in the post for which I am very thankful.

We were able to provide a good donation to supply many blankets from the second tithe account that we have set aside for helping the poor.

The consecration to God of a tithe of all increase, whether of the orchard and harvest field, the flocks and herds, or the labor of brain or hand, the devotion of a second tithe for the relief of the poor and other benevolent uses, tended to keep fresh before the people the truth of God's ownership of all, and of their opportunity to be channels of His blessings. It is a wonderful thought that our Father in heaven cares for the cold and poor and through the Spirit of His Son, He calls to us to help the poor. As we are told in the book Steps to Christ:

Christ is the source of every right impulse. Steps to Christ page 26.

He is the one that spoke to my wife and moved on her to speak to me and then encouraged me to act in prayer and then show me where we could help.

Thank you Father for pleading with us to care for those around us. May we keep listening to your calls to help those around us.
