He [Christ] spoke of God, not as an avenging judge, but as a tender father, and He revealed the image of God as mirrored in Himself. His words were like balm to the wounded spirit. Both by His words and by His works of mercy He was breaking the oppressive power of the old traditions and man-made commandments, and presenting the love of God in its exhaustless fullness.

14 The Legacy of Levi

Part of series 2018 Father of Love TRSC

The command of Moses to go through the middle of the camp of Israel and slay all those who refused to repent of their apostasy is a confronting picture of the judgments of God. Why would God command this and how does this harmonize with the character of God revealed in Christ? What also of the blessing pronounced upon Phinehas when he ran a Javelin through Zimri and his accomplice? What does this tell us about the character of God?
