The Divine Pattern of God's Character of love and His Power

Part of series Character and Power

What is the focus of our worship? The character or the power of God? Put another way, does God's character give birth to power and life or does power and life give birth to character?

The Scriptures tell us that
God is Love 1 John 4:8
God hath Immortality 1 Tim 6:16

The Love of God is the source of His being and this is expressed through His power and Immortality. This ensures that all of God';s power is an expression of His Love.

If God's Love and Power are co-equal elements then power and love are shared and this would mean that not all of God's actions could be sourced in love.

Isa 57:15  For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy;

God's name [character] is holy
God inhabits [dwells in] eternity [immortality]

This simple question of the relationship of God character of love and His power as either love manifested through power or power and love working together in tension is critical to understanding who God is and how He lives.

Jer 9:23-24  Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:  (24)  But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.
