That's How Beautiful You Are

"But the serpent continued, in a musical voice, with subtle praise of her surpassing loveliness; and his words were not displeasing." Patriarchs and Prophets page 53.

Reminds me of a One Direction song a lot of my students are obsessed with:

"Baby you light up my world like nobody else,
The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed,
But when you smile at the ground it ain't hard to tell,
You don't know,
Oh oh,
You don't know you're beautiful."

It's true that many girls don't know they're beautiful, but your knowledge of your beauty shouldn't come from a man. If you want to know how beautiful you are, read His Word!

You were made in His image (Genesis 1:26), that's how beautiful you are.

You were fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), that's how beautiful you are.

God made you, and He has made everything beautiful in its time (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

One Direction might be right - you might not know you're beautiful, but you only have to ask God to find out that you are.

Girls, please guard your hearts (Proverbs 4:23). There are so many boys/men/male celebrities who will praise your loveliness with pleasing words and wooing melodies, but the real test of whether he will truly love you is if he can love you as Christ loved the church (Ephesians 5:25). Remember how Christ loved the church? He DIED for the church. So don't settle for the romanticised "love" of this world - wait for a man who will love you so much that he's willing to die for you; a man who will love you with true unconditional agape love.

While you're waiting, let Jesus be the lover of your soul.
