All Power from God.-"God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God." Ps. lxii. 11. "There is no power but of God." This is absolutely true, without any exception. The Roman power, even in the days of the infamous and brutal Nero, was as much derived from God as was the Jewish power in the days of David. When Pilate told Christ that He had power to crucify Him or to let Him go, Christ replied, "Thou couldest have no power at all against Me, except it were given thee from above." John xix. 11.…

The concept of submission and free will seem to be in opposition to each other in the human mind, and yet, this is the very heartbeat of heaven itself. The relationship between God and His Son is modelled after this pattern. Agape amongst all the heavenly hosts is made manifest by worship and adoration to God by a heartfelt, freewill response. When you think about it, worship by its true definition can only be of free will. Love can only be expressed in the framework of free will. Adoration and praise can only come as a heartfelt response. Do we…

What a feast we had this year! Tabernacles Argentina 2024, and the Bible Training right after, were incredible experiences. I thought I would share them here in the hopes that it encourages you. The “party” began several days before: the group from Puerto Rico arrived a few days before Atonement. We spent a very blessed Sabbath, and two days later, the Day of Atonement, with them. I hadn’t had such a refreshing time in several months. We enjoyed deep talks, heartfelt music and conversations. Aside from Carlos, Heidy and their daughters, I had only met the others via Facebook, but…

Imagine being compelled by a desire to be close to every single person you know. Maybe if you had lots of money and showered people with gifts you could certainly get people’s attention. Yet would they be close to you? Would they not be further away from you because the gifts you give become a replacement for yourself and your friends would desire your gifts more than they would desire you and your company. Such was the experience of the prodigal son when his money ran out.

I want to thank you for the prayers that were said on our behalf for the men's breakfast and Bible study on Feb. 12. There was a low attendance, but, praise God, one friend was there. He is one who has taken a real interest in studying out truth. He told the men, basically, that he was leaning on the side of the Truth. Praise God! I was only able to do part of the study that I had prepared, but at least I was able to do part of it. We are only the seed sowers, and our Father…

Part Two in a series of articles on the Little Horn of Daniel 8, and the Leopard-like beast of Revelation 13. Daniel  8:8 informs us that at the death of the he-goat (i.e Alexander the Great), his kingdom was divided among his generals. Verse 9 informs us that out of one of these three kingdoms would come a `little horn':  Daniel 8:9 -    And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land. This is of course the verse which has proven…

The testimony of Arnobius (died c. 330 A.D), demonstrates how belief in the Biblical doctrine of the conditional immortality of the soul became corrupted with Greek ideas associated with punishment of the immortal soul in the eternal fires of Hades. Arnobius believed in annihilationalism; which it to say that the penalty of the wicked is a form of `everlasting destruction', in the sense that the destruction of the impenitent sinner has an everlasting result, which is eternal death, or annihlation. However, he also imbibed elements of pagan philosophy, in the idea that at death the soul is punished in Hades…
To all our brothers and sisters who believe on the Only Begotten Son of God, Blessed are ye when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake. Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers onto the prophets.      Luke 6:22,23 Adrian, our new friend and brother in Christ, asked me to tell of our experience sharing in the joy of the…

Part 7 in a series of articles on the Little Horn of Daniel 8, and the Leopard-like beast of Revelation 13.   Perhaps the most sublime, yet misunderstood verse in the Bible is 1 John  4: 8: `He that loves not, knows not God, for God is love.'  The manner by which we perceive the love, or character of God directly affects the manner by which we perceive others and the salvation which has already been wrought for us at Calvary. It also directly affects how we perceive the manner by which God relates to us, for man's salvation is directly traced…

While the Seventh-Day Adventist Church is firmly rooted in the prophetic roots of the Millerite movement and stands or falls upon the veracity of our interpretation of Daniel 8: 14:  : "Unto two thousand three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed"; our understanding of the Sanctuary message has become increasingly blurred to the point that few of our Pastors now have a comprehensive understanding of it. Consequently the knowledge of our lay people suffers; for the people rarely rise above their leadership. This is, I believe, generally symptomatic of the Church at large, for when was the last…

The Close of Probation Dear Maranathamedia Subscriber   There is a growing chorus of voices who claim to be wise and have understanding of the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation. The idea is gaining ground that the close of probation is about to take place. We know that that coming of Christ is very soon but Satan would unsettle the faith of His people through false understandings of prophecy. The Lord gave to the Adventist pioneers a solid prophetic platform to build upon. Ellen White recommended the book Daniel and Uriah Smith many times as…

The Hebrew week was totally centered around the Sabbath. The word for Sunday was just “first”, Monday “Second”, etc. the first 6 days had no special name, they were just numbered. Only Sabbath, the 7th day, had a special name: “Shabbat”, or “stop working” or “rested”.  The whole week is seen and lived with the Sabbath in view.

During the second and third centuries, the awe inspiring knowledge of the `agape' of Christ began to retreat in the second and third centuries the face of the Hellenization of the Church, as the Greek philosophies which infiltrated the early Church were accompanied by the pivotal doctrine of the natural immortality of the soul, which is the one doctrine which defines all others and is the basis of commonality of all pagan religions. Thus the doctrine of the conditional mortality of the soul - which gives knowledge of Christ experiencing the `second death' on behalf of the penitent believer and…

Part 5 in a series of articles on the Little Horn of Daniel 8, and the Leopard-like beast of Revelation 13.   When the Serpent first lied to Eve, and informed her that if she and her husband ate of the tree of knowledge, they would then be `as gods' (Gen. 3:5); he insinuated that they would have access to hidden knowledge which God had denied to them - which was that they were of their own selves immortal, and in no need of God at all. This first great lie -`ye shall not die and be as gods'…

Gen 1:26 tells us that man was given dominion over the earth. Man is made of the dust of the earth. What is the relationship between man and the earth. God has established eternal laws in nature and when man rebels against God, nature will reflect this rebellion towards man in the same manner. This has implications for the destruction in the flood and the fire that comes at the end of time.

“He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water” John 7:38 A river reaches places which its source, in the mountains or springs higher than the plains, never knows. And Jesus said that, if we received His fullness, “rivers of living water” will flow out of us, reaching in blessings “even unto the uttermost part of the earth” (Acts 1:8). This is regardless of whether we see the visible effects or not for, “the wind (His Spirit working in and through us) bloweth where it listeth, and thou…
Rev 12:1  And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: Who is this Woman? Many try to answer this question, and the answer seems difficult, because in order to remain faithful to the context, and to maintain a coherent line of thinking, there has to be a complete application of the symbols in the answer given regarding this Woman.  Many without knowing adhere to the Catholic Commentary of Jerome in stating that the description of the Woman in Revelation…

This is the last article in a series of articles on `The Last Generation'.  In the following passage, Ellen White outlined the last work for those wait for the Bridegroom's return: "We cannot be ready to meet the Lord by waking when the cry is heard, "Behold, the Bridegroom!" and then gathering up our empty lamps to have them replenished. We cannot keep Christ apart from our lives here, and yet be fitted for His companionship in heaven. In the parable the wise virgins had oil in their vessels with their lamps. Their light burned with undimmed flame through the…
