Vengeance. What a worrying word! Most people think of vengeance as returning something hurtful to another person for doing something hurtful to them. Or as we commonly say, getting back at some-one for what they have done to you and feeling justified in doing so. This happens all over the world. And because we think like that we have brought God down to our sinful level and think of God as dealing the same way with man. But God's thoughts are not man's thoughts nor His way our ways. Isa 55: 8,9 For we find that Christ died for sinful man. He took upon himself all men's sins and died because of those sins so that man would not have to die for his own sins as long as he accepted the fact that Christ had died their death for their sins.

When a person accepts Christ for what He has done for him, repents and is baptised, Christ can make that person a new creature with different and better values than they had before. You will not want to do the things you used to do nor will you want to. What has this got to do with God's vengeance you may be asking. Well maybe another question should be asked. Why would the Lord want to take vengeance on sinful man when He has died for them? It doesn't make sense. So what exactly is The Lord's vengeance?

The Lord's vengeance is not against sinful man but against SIN itself. It has always been that way. God is calling to every one to come unto Him and be saved. We have all been given the opportunity in our lives to accept what The Lord has done for us. Those who don't want to take advantage of the merciful act offered them and who want to continue to live as they do, will at the end of days when vengeance comes to destroy sin will be destroyed also along with the sins they love and cling to. For the sins within a man will be consumed while within that man and will be so fierce that the man will be consumed as well. Satan will also suffer the same way [Ezek 28:18,19. For our God is a consuming fire to sin [ Heb 12:29 and Deut 4:24] and sin cannot live in His Presence or in heaven [Isaiah 33:14] What a sad state of affairs that will be, but it is not too late now to get rid of sins in our lives before that event takes place. All man has to do, is to ask Christ to forgive him of the sins committed and make a sincere covenant with the Lord by Baptism, to follow His ways from then on and they will have their name written in the book of life .

If after baptism some hereditary sin is revealed in you to overcome or if the sin comes about from an outside source, ask the Lord to forgive you and take away that desire so that you sin not again and He will answer your prayer if you are sincere. For Christ is our advocate before the Father in heaven and will plead our case for us. Until a certain time in our lives before we die the common death of man we are all under probation, when that probation closes whatever state he is in at that time will determine whether his name is in the book of life or not. Do you know what sin is or what constitutes sin? Sin is transgression of the law of God. The 10 commandments, in the beginning of time weren't in written form but was common knowledge.

Adam and Eve knew what sin was for we are told that they sinned and hid themselves from God and felt guilty. Babies don't sin until they reach an age of understanding of what is right and what is wrong. Baptism is not for babies it is only for those who are mature enough to understand and decide for themselves as to which they want to be on. John the Baptist only baptised adults. After Israel's 400yrs of slavery and living in Egypt, the knowledge of God was almost obliterated. So to give the people a visible sign and to verify to them who He was [ex 20:2] God wrote on stone tablets with His own finger the 10 commandments and gave the tablets to Moses on Mt Sinai. These 10 rules of life are for all people in all ages. They have not been done away with as some seem to insist for that is a man made excuse not to do as God says. For in the Bible we find, “We are to obey God rather than man [acts 5:29] and “If you love me, keep my commandments” says the Lord. [John 14:15] etc.

Wicked or lawless people won't accept any law they just do what they think is right in their own eyes and they are proud of that independent attitude. “Who is God that I should obey Him” was the cry of Pharaoh of old and is of many people today. Christ came to this earth to show us the character of His Father in Heaven. Not once did He kill, instead He brought life to people, physically and spiritually, and He told them to sin no more. It is still the same message we have today, for He Loves us and always has and is willing that none should perish but that all should come to repentance and live. [1 Peter 3:9]. VC

On the following pages are the 10 Commandments as in the Bible and following that are the 10 commandments as put out by the Roman Catholic church and which many churches follow. How can you be saved if you follow man's editions of the commandments. “In vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men! “ [Matthew 15:9.] “Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men” [Mark 7:7] Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of Life and may enter in through the gates of the City [of God]” Revelation 22:14] May God Bless and move upon your heart.

THE 10 COMMANDMENTS kjv Book of Exodus Chapter 20: verses 2-18 Iam the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage [slavery] [ex 20:2] [1] Thou shalt have no other gods before me. [2] Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in the heaven above or that is in the earth beneath or that is in the water under the earth:Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me and shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments. [3] Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. [4] Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour and do all thy work. But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God. In it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it. [5] Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. [6] Thou shalt not kill [7] Thou shalt not commit adultery [8] Thou shalt not steal. [9] Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour [10] Thou shalt not covert thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covert thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is thy neighbour's.

The 10 commandments as changed by the Roman Catholic church during the dark ages and still taught today.

[1] I am the Lord thy God. Thou shalt not have strange gods before me. No 2 commandment has been taken out altogether to allow the worship of Mary, relics, images, crosses, and the church elected pope in place of Christ on earth as a decent of Peter the apostle who they claim was not married. But the Bible says Peter was married. [Matthew 8:14] [2] [which should be 3rd commandment is now made no2] Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain. [3] [should be 4th commandment now made no 3] Remember to keep holy the Sabbath day. [This is all they have used of this important commandment] Because of the Pope working closely with Constantine, [no doubt Constantine was also talked into believing that the amalgamation of church and state would improve his standing among the nations] it came about that the law was changed in 321AD and all had to worship on the Roman Sunday, along with Easter n Xmas. This change, from the 7th day Sabbath to the 1st day Sunday, is the power of the Catholic church which it claims to have along with power to change times and laws. [as it did with Constantine]. This Sunday law the church explained to the people was in honour of Christ's resurrection and this is still what is generally believed by the majority of churches today. [whereas, Romans 6:5 says baptism by immersion denotes death to sin and resurrection to a new life!] All who knowingly keep Sunday are supporting the Papacy. The 7th day was given by God to commemorate the Creation of this world and the Creator who made it all. It is the only day that God has Blessed and Hallowed [made Holy] Sunday has not got God's Blessings nor is it Hallowed! These changes by the Papacy do not uphold the command of God for the Papacy is a man made institution posing as God on earth. The Bible says 'We are to obey God rather than man' [Acts 5:29]. [4] [should be 5th commandment is now made no 4] Honour thy Father and thy Mother. [5] [should be 6th commandment now made no 5] Thou shalt not kill [6] [should be 7th commandment now made no 6] Thou shalt not commit adultery [7] [should be 8th commandment now made no 7] Thou shalt not steal [8[ [ should be 9th commandment now made no 8] Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour [9] [should be 10th commandment but now made no 9. Separated into 2 parts this is one part of 10th commandment] Thou shalt no covert thy neighbour's wife [10] [ This is part 2 of 10th commandment to make up the total of 10] Thou shalt not covert thy neighbour's goods
