Declaration of Questions on Doctrine Concerning the Godhead
In 1957 the Adventist Church released the book questions on Doctrine. On the very first page in response to question one, this statement is made:
In Common with Conservative Christians and the Historic Protestant Creeds, We Believe.
1. That God is the Sovereign Creator, upholder and ruler of the universe, and that He is eternal, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent.
2. That the Godhead, the Trinity, comprises God the Father, Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit.?
Questions on Doctrine Page 21,22
What do the Historic Protestant Creeds teach that from this point…
Defining "Resist not Evil" and the Proper Use of Force

This article will address and define the proper use of force, injury, and non-resistance and non-violence in the context of Jesus’s command to “Resist not evil” in Matthew 5:39. It is not being passive and doing nothing. And it doesn't mean no physical force whatsoever:
"There is an uninjurious, benevolent physical force. There are cases in which it would not only be allowable, but in the highest degree commendable, to restrain human beings by this kind of force. Thus, maniacs, the insane, the delirious sick, ill-natured children, the intellectually or morally non-compos mentis, the intoxicated and the violently passionate, are…

Superseding Natural Law!
Introduction: Welcome to part two of three in the study of the Covenants. Part 1 is available HERE. At face value glancing at the title and subtitle one could easily think, this study is promoting infidelity, and rebellion to law and order! If you read the first study you will know it is certainly not! In this study we will consider how to be delivered from the law of sin and death, how to be free from condemnation to walk in the liberty of Christ. We will examine the purpose of the 10 Commandment law and what…
I thought that there are many who will benefit from this tract that was written many years ago by Alexander Snyman, who is now resting in the Lord.

AGAPE VERSUS THE DOCTRINE OF IMMORTALITY
By Alexander Snyman
Natural Immortality - A Key Deception
Once there is a departure from truth in any area in Scriptural teaching there follows a seemingly endless train of repercussions as one by one other doctrines of the Bible are affected. This is inevitable, since Biblical Truth is an entity which…

Members of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, we are called to be a witness of the Gospel to the world. If you wanted to give a reason for your faith by telling someone about the “God” you worship would you be careful that the picture you painted with your words was reverent and respectful? What illustration could you find that portrayed the majesty awe, honour and praise in your heart?
The July 2011 issue of the SDA publication Signs of the Times wanted to help you tell the world about the God you worship. When you turn to the article on…

Here we find the greatest reason why men and women can’t see the truth of God’s character. The condemnation by which they judge themselves or others, prevents them from accepting the agape of God, just like Peter. His own judgment of his situation limited the love of Jesus for him and hid from Peter the true love Jesus had for him.
Doers of the Law

One thing I have discovered over the years is that it is just too easy to blur the distinction between faith and works and that is just how Satan wants it. Some passages in the Bible seem to make it so clear and then others seem to muddy the waters.
For example, here are two texts that appear, on a first reading, to be in conflict with each other.
Romans 2:13 For not the hearers of the law [are] just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
Romans 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of…

Yes, I believe it does. Following, a
Sequence of events and particulars from Revelation 4 onwards, and its relation to other sections of the Bible plus some EGW comments:
® A door was opened in heaven. Rev. 4:1
A door is opened to the church of Philadelphia. The Church who was waiting the Lord in 1844 is part of the church of Philadelphia according to our historical understanding.
EGW identifies the open door referred to the church of Philadelphia as Jesus Christ starting his ministry in the Most Holies, as it follows,
"This subject was not understood by Adventists…

The story of Abraham, Sarah and Hagar is foundational the much of the history of the world. The nature of relations between these three is very instructive for us today.
The natural outworking of allowing Sarah's plan go into action, was to find Hagar fleeing from Sarah heading towards Egypt carrying Abraham's unborn child in her womb. The protective and leading hand of God led this poor, fearful and apparently destitute woman to a fountain in the desert.

In one of the recent postings entitled `The Voice of Elijah', the writer expressed his concern that `the choice between the Father & Son verses the Trinity is the choice on Mount Carmel for modern Israel. We are to be the voice of Elijah to modern Israel.'
While this is indeed true, I have found that one of the biggest problems associated with speaking to other Adventists (let alone other Christians) is the preconceived idea that if you reject the Trinity, then you reject the divinity of Christ - which then makes it difficult to give a proper witness to…
Ellen and James White Uphold Divinity of Christ But Reject Trinity

In the June 6, 1871 issue of the "Advent Review and Herald of the Sabbath" we find a testimony from James White from his account of a journey by train from Battle Creek to Fairfield. What is important to note is the fact that we get a true understanding of what Mr. and Mrs. White believed concerning the trinity as well as the divinity of Christ.
If the early Adventist church was unanimously non-trinitarian, and the modern Adventist church is avowedly Trinitarian, how did this monumental change come about? The standard denominational answer is simply: Ellen White changed the denominational belief about the Trinity mainly by her quotations found in "The Desire of Ages." (The Trinity, Whidden, Moon, Reeve)DID ELLEN WHITE CHANGE HER MIND?This premise is based SOLELY upon the presumption that EGW changed her fundamental belief of the identity of God (from non-trinitarian in harmony with her colleges, then become a "Biblical Trinitarian"). (see, B. Andrew) The problem with this supposition, is that it's based…

Next stop was a flight to Durban, the biggest Indian city outside of India and the largest city in KwaZulu-Natal. It is home to what was formerly the Zulu Kingdom, and the Zulus are the largest of the black tribes in South Africa. We were picked up at the airport by Nina and Bester Snyman, who drove us to their home in Empangeni, about 2 hours from the airport. The next day we picked up Ben Kramlich from Talking Rock Sabbath Chapel in America, who joined us for this part of the trip and the Feast of Tabernacles. KwaZulu-Natal is…

The following poem was taken from a larger more in depth study entitled "Sacrifice of Epic Proportion." Sacrifice of Epic Proportion is a completely revised version of an earlier study entitled "Power Laid Down." I hope to have the newer version up in pdf format soon. For now here is a sample of it.
Epic Sacrifice
It began in the realm of celestial heights
In a far away home beyond the stars of the nights.
One stood highly honored fair and bright
Perfect in wisdom, beauty to the sight
Highest of the angels, guardian of law.
Clothed in God’s…

From the time that Lucifer (who is also known as Satan, or the Devil), first entertained thoughts of rebellion against God, to when sin is finally vanquished when death is cast into the `lake of fire' with him (Revelation 20: 10, 14), the entire issue of salvation has from eternity hinged upon the principle of the character of God, in contrast to the character of Satan. Philippians 2: 5 - 8 contrasts the selfless mind of Christ (of which we are exhorted to partake of), with the selfish mind of Lucifer, the fallen angel of God: `Let this mind be…

Just as Adam and Eve looked forward to the advent of the Messiah, every generation has had the opportunity of being an Adventist. By definition I define Adventist as anyone who is looking for and anticipating the return of Yahushua the Messiah. You find in Scripture that there is a “time of the end Daniel 8:17? and also the “utter end Nahum 1:9?. As we see the moral decline of society we have evidence that we do live in the “time of the end”. There is another set of pillars upon which to build as we see the day approaching for…

If you were a descendent of Abraham you would have learned from your mother's knee the hope of the coming Messiah. This hope had been in the heart of Adam and Eve, Noah and his wife and every Hebrew family since the establishment of the nation in the crossroads of the know world. Every household had been effected by the firstborn’s life being spared at the time of the Passover in Egypt due to blood being placed on the lintel and side posts of the home (Exodus 12:22). The living lesson which had brought about the deliverance of Israel was…

" There's no need of a donation for Mr. Goodman," growled out Mr. Penniman, on his way home from church, after the notice of a proposed donation visit had been given; " he has salary enough without—six hundred dollars a year and a parsonage and garden spot—that's enough for any family to live on; why, it doesn't cost us near that, and we have six children, and they have only four. 'Twas real mean for Mr. Goodman to exchange, and get that man to give out the notice." And Mr. Penniman fretted away in the ear of his silent wife…
