Thus, no sooner was it decided what was “the legitimate and most holy Catholic Church,” than the civil power was definitely placed at the disposal of that church, with positive instructions to use that power in compelling conformity to the new imperial religion. Persecution was begun at once. The Donatist bishops were driven out, and Constantine commanded that their churches should be delivered to the Catholic party. Nor was this done at all peacefully. “Each party recriminated on the other; but neither denies the barbarous scenes of massacre and license which devastated the African cities. The Donatists boasted of their martyrs; and…
The Destructive Power of Holy Angels

In addressing the subject of the character of God the following quote is often quoted.
A single angel destroyed all the first-born of the Egyptians and filled the land with mourning. When David offended against God by numbering the people, one angel caused that terrible destruction by which his sin was punished. The same destructive power exercised by holy angels when God commands, will be exercised by evil angels when He permits. There are forces now ready, and only waiting the divine permission, to spread desolation everywhere. GC 614.2
A surface reading of this passage suggests that it was a…

What are the implications of the following Bible verse?
Rev 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
How was Jesus slain from the foundation of the world? Is this simply a metaphor? If the sacrifice of Jesus was not available till the time Jesus came to this earth, were the Jews really dependent on animal sacrifices until the real thing happened? Was Aaron alone the priest and mediator for Israel? Were these not a shadow of heavenly…
The Dominion of the Earth

Gen 1:26 tells us that man was given dominion over the earth. Man is made of the dust of the earth. What is the relationship between man and the earth. God has established eternal laws in nature and when man rebels against God, nature will reflect this rebellion towards man in the same manner. This has implications for the destruction in the flood and the fire that comes at the end of time.

Intro: South Bank Happenings.
Before I share an experience that deeply impacted my life I want to give a little update on the SB ministry. The last Report (# 7) by Blair Andrew was posted on MM several months ago but that is not to say nothing has happened at South Bank since then! (The ministry has grown wonderfully. My fellow evangelist buddies (Blair, Mark, Morrie, Reuben) and I…

Building the Temple
Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown. Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of My God, and the name of the city of My God, which is New Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from My God: and I will write upon him My new name. He that hath an ear, let him hear what…

Most people believe that when they die, they will live on in some form, which will be of a more exalted nature than the lives we live on this dreary little planet, which revolves around a rather inconspicuous yellow dwarf star which we call the sun. Thus nearly all men believe the first great lie which the serpent spoke to Eve, which was `ye shall not die'.
`Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of…

It was to have been the first time for many things that particular semester at Brandeis University--my first year of college, my first extended experience in a large city, my first dependence upon public transportation to get to church, my first New England winter, and the first time that I was not able to give " a reason of the hope that is in [me] with meekness and fear."
It was late Friday afternoon on the fifth floor of my freshman year dormitory. Classes had long been over for everyone at this Jewish-sponsored university whose academic population consisted of…

`And the beast I saw was like unto a Leopard'
Part 4 in a series of articles on the Little Horn of Daniel 8, and the Leopard-like beast of Revelation 13.
To say that the nondescript beast of Revelation 13 has the body of a Leopard is actually a misnomer, for a literal translation of the text is that it `was like a leopard' (NKJV). If it was `like a leopard' - then the chief characteristic of the Papacy is that as it is very much like Greece in some respects, then its `likeness' to Greece constitutes the…

Presentation Notes
Introduction
Psa 94:20 Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law?
The condemning power of Satan would lead him to institute a theory of justice inconsistent with mercy. He claims to be officiating as the voice and power of God, claims that his decisions are justice, are pure and without fault. Thus he takes his position on the judgment seat and declares that his counsels are infallible. Here his merciless justice comes in, a counterfeit of justice, abhorrent to God. {CTr 11.4}
Justice and Mercy stood apart, in opposition to each…

Gen 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
It is an extremely sobering thought to realize that at the moment of this verse in human history, the history was over. Mankind was doomed with absolutely no hope.
The Lunar Sabbath: Lost Ancient Truth? or Modern Invention?

When you ask lunar sabbatarians where the origin of the belief came from they are apt to say, “Genesis chapter one.” Mr. Brown claims his concept comes from “prophetic revelation.” Because of his associations and personal testimony I posit that the lunar sabbath movement is a modern invention whose seed was germinated in the white supremacist movement while some Scripture and historical notes were adapted to fit. It was then repackaged as a lost ancient truth.

The Papacy and February 11
Today pope Benedict XVI gave his farewell address. Tomorrow is the last day of February 2013 and the last day of the pope's pontificate. This has drawn much attention and speculation as to why he is resigning (a most rare occasion for popes) and who will be taking his place. Adrian invited me to expand on a comment I made in his recent blog on this subject.
It has to do with a certain prominence…

Most Christians have firm ideas about the wrath and the judgments of God, about His visitations, His vengeance and His punishments. They believe, that they represent an active act of God who loses His patience at a certain point and punishes and eliminates the transgressors of His law by instructing His holy angels to hurt, torment and kill human beings and by using the forces of nature in a destructive manner so as to achieve His goal of destroying the apostate.

Why are there so many denominations within professed Christianity when all profess to derive their doctrines from the Bible? I was really glad to see the reason for many denominations answered so clearly from the Spirit of Prophecy and work of the pioneers. Here then is:
THE REASON FOR MANY DENOMINATIONS
The Great Controversy PG 291-292
When first constrained to separate from the English Church, the Puritans had joined themselves together by a solemn covenant, as the Lord's free people, "to walk together in all His ways made known or to be made known to them." --J. Brown, The Pilgrim…

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. There are stern battles for each of us in dealing with our human weaknesses. If we have all knowledge of prophecy and Bible doctrine and have not the patient, gentle love of Christ we are nothing. It is the hunger of the human soul and its awareness of its great need that causes the prayer of faith to obtain the righteousness…
