Robert Wieland on the Two Covenants

These thoughts by Robert J. Wieland helped me understand better the Two Covenants.
Our human covenants are always two-sided affairs, each party making commitments, giving mutual promises, and then sealing the deal by a handshake or signature. We naturally think of God's covenant in the same way. He makes His promise; I must make mine. He'll do His part; I'll be sure to do mine.

Welcome back everyone. Glad you can join us. A big thank you to Carlos for his presentation on the life of David. That was very thought-provoking and a lot of us have been going back over the Old Testament characters and seeing a lot more than what we saw before, and realizing that these men were subject to like passions like as we are, or that a man of passion is probably the correct translation of that.
Before we begin to sing, I think all of us are watching with great interest the events…
Salmon Migration to the Source

When we consider the beauty of nature there are many lessons which call us to consider the source of this beauty. One of the most striking examples of how nature teaches us of the innate desire to return to the source of our origins is the Salmon fish. When a salmon hatches from an egg high in the mountains it begins its journey to the sea where it will mature and grow into a full grown fish. When the time is right the salmon will begin a migration to its place ofbirth. The following video shares just a small…
Satan is the Agent of Destruction

God is a vigilant observer of the actions of the children of men. Nothing occurs in earth or heaven without the knowledge of the Creator. Nothing can happen without His permission. He on whom the fate of an empire may depend is watched over with a vigilance which knows no relaxation by Him who "giveth salvation unto kings," to whom belong "the shields of the earth." And the poor man is as tenderly watched over as the monarch upon his throne.
God is constantly at work for the good of His creatures. Satan is also constantly at work, but…

SDA General Conference President, Ted Wilson
Meeting in the city where the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s General Conference was first organized, members of the world church's Executive Committee heard a direct call from Adventist world church president Ted N.C. Wilson, to not forget the lessons learned from Adventist history.
Wilson spoke during a Sabbath sermon on April 13, 2013, at the Seventh-day Adventist Tabernacle in downtown Battle Creek, Michigan, part of a weekend planned to commemorate 150 years since leaders of the then-nascent movement voted to organize the loosely knit confederation of believers into a General Conference.

Ephesus…First love...Left... Fell...
REVELATION:
Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;
I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:
And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.
Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast…

Ephesians 5:24-25 “Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,”
I want us to deeply consider the implications of Christ being in the role of “husband,” and ask ourselves, “Is His wife meeting His needs?”
If we are being honest, we would have to say, “No.” Of course the degree to which the bride of Christ has offered true respect, trust, and devotion to Christ has fluctuated throughout history, but as a whole, the…

Seven (7) Characteristics of the Covenants
This is a continuation of the blog series on the Two Covenants known as "Married to Another"
Up to now we have considered seven different examples of the two Covenants. Now we will explore seven characteristics of them before examining the seven divine love languages. Here is the short version summary. Notice that many of these characteristics overlap each other.
1) The Covenants were based upon blood sacrifice: This awakened gratitude, love and conviction leading to self-distrust, humble confession of…

There is a lot of rapid movement today with the events in Paris and the downing of the Russian Jet by Turkey. With all these things taking place, I am inviting you to read a chapter from the book The Great Nations of Today by A.T. Jones that I believe offers a Biblical context for the current climate. It speaks to the Adventist pioneer understanding of Daniel 11 and offers a very comprehensive understanding of Daniel 11 in relation to the Seven Trumpets. This knowledge is not well known to many Adventists today but I believe it is worth revisiting and meditiating and…

Col 2:16,17 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
This passage of Scripture is one of the most hotly debated in the Christian world. What did Paul actually mean here? Is Paul relegating the gatherings of God’s people found in the book of the law to the scrap heap as a bunch of legalistic bondage? Is Paul telling the believers to not let people of the…

Hi my friends,
Okay I am back in Australia and starting to readjust. Wow, the TurkanaProject was an experience! I can hardly believe some of the things our team were apart of.
HARD FACTS: 3 tribes of over 10,000 people went from being in desperation to having food to sell to neighbouring tribes. So that includes Sopel and Edos, the two tribes in desperate famine have planted seed that will feed their entire tribes, that are shown in the photo below.
Lokapel, several thousand for their population, now have surplus of food, and the hope for the fulfilment to…
Some Early Adventists Struggled With the Trinity Doctrine

In the Discussion Questions on Friday, January 6 of the 2012 “Glimpses of Our God” Sabbath School lessons on the trinity we read the following:
"Though some early Adventists struggled with the doctrine, our church today has taken a firm and unrelenting stand on this teaching."
As a non-trinitarian I am in agreement that some early Adventists did struggle with the trinity doctrine. Allow me to share why. When I began to study the truth of the Father and Son in Scripture I also set out to discover what the pioneers of our faith wrote on the subject. I learned…

I'm sure you've all had the experience where a Bible verse you've known for years suddenly appears to you in a whole new light.
It happened to me this morning with this verse:
Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and He will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon. (Isaiah 55:7)
“He will abundantly pardon.” In the German Schlachter Bible it says: “There is much forgiveness in Him.”
I had been thinking a lot about the principle of penal substitution lately,…
Son of Thunder to a Son of God

In 1985 I was brought to the foot of the cross with a burden of sin on my shoulders. I experienced wonderful freedom, peace, and joy in the gospel of Jesus Christ. The work of sanctification began. I am by nature a son of thunder. In my early years I have been impulsive, loud, brash and typically selfish. As I have had a weakened constitution from birth, my nervous system caused me to feel things quite deeply and intensely. Being therefore sensitive in nature, I had to become hard to the taunts and ridicule of life. It was like a…

Spirit of Jesus or Spirit of Satan
The Spirit of God—what a subject! It has raised many debates. Yet, truth is for the poor in spirit. They, at least, are simple and humble enough to understand and to accept the truth as little children.
In this article my goal is to show the contrast that exists between Jesus’ Holy Spirit and the devilish spirit of Satan. I would like to begin by sharing some contrasting thoughts about Jesus and Satan and then share some thoughts about those who have walked in their footsteps, showing by their lives and…

St. Augustine of Hippo (354 - 430), first developed the doctrine of `original sin' in a logical and comprehensive format, and was eventually rewarded with the honorific `Doctor Gratiae' (Doctor of Grace) in 1298 A.D. Augustine was heavily influenced by Manichaeism and neo-Platonism, which declares that everything which is of this material plane of existence is so far removed from the One-in-all pantheistic god, that all things which are tethered to this plane of existence have lost all knowledge (gnosis) of their True, or Realistic (divine) Self. As the body is believed to be essentially evil, it therefore weighs down the soul, which yearns to break free…

The Translation of Identity Wars
“Cristina, I wanted to ask you to help me with a Translation project. I have been deeply convicted that my book Identity Wars must go to the world. It is currently being translated into Russian, but I also want it in Spanish. Is there any possibility you could translate it for me? Please pray and ask the Lord if this is something you could help us with.”
