To establish a correct pattern of thinking on the covenants, I want to study the pattern the Bible gives us of how we receive eternal life.
1. Pattern of Receiving Eternal Life
1Co 8:6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

THE SABBATH GOD
After we know and remember God, by keeping his holy Sabbath, then the Bible will teach of his personality and dwelling place. Man is in the image and likeness of God. Gen.1,26. And God said, Let us (speaking to his son) make man in our image, after our likeness. Chap.2,7. And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life: and…
The scapegoat and our Father’s merciful character

The goats identify their characters with that of Satan and therefore they share his fate. In this fire they all suffer according to the measure of their experience of God’s merciful character. This is why many will die quickly and other will suffer much more. When all of them have died, then the physical fire, which is the outer expression of the spiritual fire, will cleanse the earth. This is what we learn from the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. He was tormented physically but He died because of what sin does to everyone by hiding the Fathers merciful…

Recap Part 1
In part 1, we looked at Revelation 4 and 5 to get context for Revelation 6 and the seals. In Revelation 4, we saw One sitting on a throne in heaven. Around about the throne were seated 24 elders and before the throne were four beasts. In chapter 5 we saw that He who was seated on the throne, had in His hand a book or scroll written on the inside and the outside and sealed with seven seals.
With regard to the book or scroll, we read this from Letter 65 – 1898.
There in His…

Dear brothers and sisters,
My husband recently wrote this study for our magazine in French. As this has been a real blessing to me and our readers we thought that you might also be interested to read. It has also been published in the magazine "Old Paths" from Smyrna Gospel Ministries.
May our Father richly bless you during these Sabbath hours.
The Spirit of Jesus or the Spirit of Satan
The Spirit of God—what a subject! It has raised many debates. Yet, truth is for the poor in spirit. They, at least, are simple and humble enough to understand and to accept…
The Ten Plagues Preach the Cross

Ponder it carefully. The minds of the Roman soldiers are controlled by Satan, yet the breath by which they live is the life that lights every man that comes into the world. The power of Christ in the souls of men is used by Satan to nail Him to the cross. Just stop and ponder that for a moment. The single image of a Roman solider with hammer held high and driving a spike into those precious hands of the Saviour holds the key to the plagues of Egypt and all the power of destruction manifested on the earth.

The third person of the Godhead
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." John 1: 1
We all agree that the Word in this verse is the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God before coming on this planet.
About this Word we read in John 1, 14:
"And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth."
So the Son of God or the Word came on this…

As a younger Bible student, one of the reasons I believed the Trinity was because of the clear Bible evidence that there were Father, Son and Holy Spirit. As there were three entities described and I simply assumed the relationship between these three entities was co-equal. I never questioned the nature of the relationship until recently.
As I began to study the Scriptures more closely I began to see that the Son came forth from the Father and the Spirit of God flowed forth from the Father and the Son. There is one source that begets the Son and within…

I have read several times about the idea that for God to be love there must be more than one person for that love to exist. The key text that is used is 1 John 4:8 that God is love.
The God of the Bible is a triune Being because HE IS LOVE. Love cannot be exercised in isolation. You cannot be all-loving and be alone at the same time. Love is manifested in relationships. Augustine expressed this truth eloquently, when he said: “Ubi amor, ibi trinitas—Where there love, there is a trinity.” By that he meant, that where there…

This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way, which he has consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh.' John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Dear Father
The height and length of this statement is breath taking. To even think how you could cause your Son to be all of the Truth and all of the Way and all of the Life is such a wonder. It is a statement that I have meditated upon often and been so blessed by.
In 1973 Bert Beach co-authored a book with Lukas Vischer, Secretary of the World Council of Churches. (Beach later became Secretary of the Public Affairs and Religious Liberty department of the General Conference of the S.D.A. Church.) The title of the book was "So Much In Common between the World Council of Churches and the Seventh-day Adventist Church” and was published by the World Council of Churches, Geneva, Switzerland, in 1973. Within this book one will find the following statement:
“The member churches of the World Council of Churches and Seventh-Day Adventists are in agreement on the fundamental articles…

"There never was a time..."
This expression was a favorite of Ellen White’s and in most instances it is used to express the importance of the present time, as in “Now, as never before” or “There has never been a time in the past like the present.”
“There never was a time when more workers were needed than at the present.”

Third being of the godhead

Lucifer, being next to Christ the Son of God, in Heaven tried to usurp (assume) authority as the third being (person) of the Godhead, claiming that he should be included in the counsels of God the Father and His Son. In subtle little hints he suggested to the angels that his position of being the brightest, most beautiful, strongest and the leader of all the angels gave him the right to be in those counsels. He was defeated and cast out of Heaven along with his sympathizers. Now we see that Satan HAS usurped (assumed) that authority of the third being (person)…

Wanted to share some thoughts on Pentecost, the feast of Weeks, or Shavuot as it is called in the Hebrew. This special day marks the 50th day after the first Shabbat, or seventh-day Sabbath in the feast of unleavened bread. It is the only annual appointed time that is not designated by a specific date. It is determined only by the counting of seven complete cycles of seventh-day Sabbaths. When we look back at the Jewish economy before the Son of God came as our Redeemer did anything of significance happen on this day? What really happened on the day…

Three reasons why Jesus was crucified and not stoned.
Although Jesus was perfectly innocent of all false charges the Jews imposed upon Him (Luke 23:14; John 8:46; 18:38; 19:6), more than once they accused Him of blasphemy and plotted His death. (Matt 26:65; Mark 14:64; John…

Many people have puzzled over Ellen White’s letter to her daughter in-law Mary White in 1882
Mary, if you can get me a good box of herrings, fresh ones, please do so. These last ones that Willie got are bitter and old. If you can buy cans, say a half dozen cans of good tomatoes, please do so. We shall need them. If you can get a few cans of good oysters, get them. (Letter 16, 1882, dated May 31, 1882, from Healdsburg, California).
