Some thoughts on how to get peace as part of the family of God and how to relate to the world, particularly as it relates to authority. What is our relationship to both those above us and those below us? Seeing how God works through the hierarchies of the world, that we may have peace with our fellow man in the midst of chaos, is the Christian experience that Jesus wants us to have.

I am writing to you from a place just north of Berlin in Germany. It is called Pearleberg and over the next seven weeks we will be studying the pearl of great price. It is interesting to note that this town just celebrated 777 years since it was founded.

It is the 1938/39 school year at Southern Jr. College in Collegedale, Tennessee. Hart Halvorsen, a lifelong Adventist, is Superintendent of the Department of Agriculture. His son Forest and daughter Betty were both enrolled in the school when word came that Elder LeRoy Froom was being sent to speak to the students in a series of meetings.  The evening of the first meeting Betty asked her dad if he was going.  Dad said, “No, the guy’s got some strange ideas.” “You’re required to go, so you have to.”

The Lunar Sabbath is one such pitfall some can fall into. The idea is that if the new moon (which is the first appearing of the crescent moon after the dark moon, not the modern usage of the term 'new moon') is the first day of the month, then we count seven days and we get the Sabbath. 2016 has come to an end and what a year it has been. The last 6 months have been full of activity. The Penal Substitutionary Theory is the most popular way of explaining the gospel in Christian circles.
