Some thoughts on how to get peace as part of the family of God and how to relate to the world, particularly as it relates to authority. What is our relationship to both those above us and those below us? Seeing how God works through the hierarchies of the world, that we may have peace with our fellow man in the midst of chaos, is the Christian experience that Jesus wants us to have.

It is the 1938/39 school year at Southern Jr. College in Collegedale, Tennessee. Hart Halvorsen, a lifelong Adventist, is Superintendent of the Department of Agriculture. His son Forest and daughter Betty were both enrolled in the school when word came that Elder LeRoy Froom was being sent to speak to the students in a series of meetings.  The evening of the first meeting Betty asked her dad if he was going.  Dad said, “No, the guy’s got some strange ideas.” “You’re required to go, so you have to.”

Louis Berkhof (1873 - 1957) was a highly respected Calvinist Dutch Reformed theologian whose most well known publication  is entitled 'Systematic Theology' , which he wrote in the 1930's. According to Wikipedia :  "Berkhof's writings continue to serve as systematic presentations of Reformed theology. They are organized for use in seminaries and religious education as well as individual reference, though his systematics works are demanding reads."  Berkhof makes the following observation of Philippians 2:6-8 in the following statement: "It [the kenosis] of Christ is altogether subversive of the doctrine of the immutability of God, which is plainly taught in Scripture, Mal. 3:6, Jas.…

  Part 6 in a series of articles on the 'Little horn' of Daniel 8, and the Leopard-like beast of Revelation 13. In former articles I have mentioned that the `lifting up ' of tamid paganism into the early Church (Dn. 8: 11) was accomplished when Augustine attempted a synthesis of `Eros' with `Agape'; thus resulting in `Caritas', which translates to `charity' and `lovingkindness'. This idea that `God is Caritas' resulted from a Hegelian dialective - in which the assertion by the Greek philosophers that `God is Eros' is both complimented and completed by the apostolic assertion that `God is…

The Lunar Sabbath is one such pitfall some can fall into. The idea is that if the new moon (which is the first appearing of the crescent moon after the dark moon, not the modern usage of the term 'new moon') is the first day of the month, then we count seven days and we get the Sabbath. The reason we aren't doing that is because we are trapped in the Papal Gregorian calendar. Simple, right?

2016 has come to an end and what a year it has been. The last 6 months have been full of activity. From July to November we have been travelling through Europe and the United States sharing the joy of the Third Angels message in the light of the Father and the Son. We also have had the joy of sharing the joy of the true character of our Father as revealed in the life of Jesus Christ during His earthly ministry.

Written by Melodee Kerr “For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to the Messiah.” 2 Corinthians 11:2 YHWH, our heavenly Father, is drawing all men unto Himself through the fellowship of His Son. YHWH knows that when we realize the magnitude of the gift He has given us in His Son as the “greatest dowry every paid” and the “largest inheritance ever received”, that “His goodness will lead to humanity’s repentance (Romans 2:4). This series shows how one grows from a…

—I would like to give a brief: sketch of my experience through the Review and Herald, hoping that it may be a benefit to some, especially those who are opposing God's holy Sabbath I was a believer in the second coming of Christ in 1843. I opposed the doctrine at first, but after hearing on the subject, and a diligent search of my Bible I became convinced that it was truth, and acted accordingly. I was then a member of the Second Baptistchurch in Rochester. I saw that there was not that life and power of religion among them as…

It’s been a year now since my friend Michael Delaney gave me a pile of books to read, including the Theos set, compiled by Gary Hullquist, and Adrian Ebens’ book My Beloved, and others. After reading My Beloved three times, and carefully working my way through Theos parts 1-4 (I still have part 5 to complete), I can see that the books have impacted my thought processes to an incredible degree.  I cannot turn anywhere in my religious life now without feeling thrilled at what I have learned on one hand, and deeply saddened and disturbed on the other hand…

The Penal Substitutionary Theory is the most popular way of explaining the gospel in Christian circles. It teaches that “God is not willing or able to simply forgive sin without first requiring a satisfaction for it” (Wikipedia). To solve this problem, a popular Christian website called gotquestions.org explains: “Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross takes the place of the punishment we ought to suffer for our sins. As a result, God’s justice is satisfied, and those who accept Christ can be forgiven and reconciled to God.” Another famous theologian, John MacArthur, adds: “The reality of Christ’s vicarious, substitutionary death on our behalf is the heart…

How do we understand the events of the worldwide flood. The Bible says that God would destroy the world with the flood. It also says that it pleased the Lord to bruise His Son upon the cross. How do we reconcile this with the clear Bible statements that God is love and light and mercy and grace?

Every person in this world has the free choice to give themselves to God and keep His commandments through the grace of Christ or to resist and develop a rebellious character unfit for heaven. We are in the closing hours of earth’s history. Each decision we take from this point forward is either leading us to eternal life or eternal death. As a man sows, so shall he reap. The wages of sin is death – eternal death and the gift of God is eternal life. There is no opportunity after this present life to change your character. Today if…

The next new moon will soon be here with the promise of 8 times the gift of the living bread from heaven than the daily sacrifice provision. For more explantion on the detail of this principle please read the booklet Living Bread from Heaven.  The calcuation of the New Moon involves a number of factors but for those of us who live in the relational value system of the kingdom of our Father there is no merit in being right in order to prove others wrong, The whole purpose of the time of the new moon is to receive the…

As I was listening to chapter 28 (entitled "Levi-Matthew") I came across another good quote. The teaching of Christ, though it was represented by the new wine, was not a new doctrine, but the revelation of that which had been taught from the beginning. But to the Pharisees the truth of God had lost its original significance and beauty. To them Christ's teaching was new in almost every respect, and it was unrecognized and unacknowledged. {DA 279.2}

It came to a head one day, after sitting with Karna (wife) for some time, listening to sermon after sermon. The fire and brimstone speaker was Pastor David Gates, a real good friend and semi-teacher of mine, we had listened to about five sermons earnestly, then suddenly I heard a very peculiar sounding voice, some guy asking if I could explain the relationship between the Spirit of Prophecy and the Bible. The title was “The Authority of the Spirit of Prophecy", What? Who did this guy think he was? Asking me, ME! A 32 year vet in the field of…
