There is a lot of rapid movement today with the events in Paris and the downing of the Russian Jet by Turkey. With all these things taking place, I am inviting you to read a chapter from the book The Great Nations of Today by A.T. Jones that I believe offers a Biblical context for the current climate. It speaks to the Adventist pioneer understanding of Daniel 11 and offers a very comprehensive understanding of Daniel 11 in relation to the Seven Trumpets. This knowledge is not well known to many Adventists today but I believe it is worth revisiting and meditiating and…

Col 2:16,17 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. This passage of Scripture is one of the most hotly debated in the Christian world. What did Paul actually mean here? Is Paul relegating the gatherings of God’s people found in the book of the law to the scrap heap as a bunch of legalistic bondage? Is Paul telling the believers to not let people of the…

Sin - I am against it and its affect on Father and Son. Dear Maranatha Media Subscriber   The past number of years have proved true the experience of the narrow path as we have carefully studied the Scriptures and built carefully upon the Advent pioneer foundations and the 1888 message.  "At this I raised my eyes, and saw a straight and narrow path, cast up high above the world. On this path the Advent people were traveling to the city, which was at the farther end of the path. They had a bright light set…

In the Discussion Questions on Friday, January 6 of the 2012 “Glimpses of Our God” Sabbath School lessons on the trinity we read the following:  "Though some early Adventists struggled with the doctrine, our church today has taken a firm and unrelenting stand on this teaching."  As a non-trinitarian I am in agreement that some early Adventists did struggle with the trinity doctrine. Allow me to share why. When I began to study the truth of the Father and Son in Scripture I also set out to discover what the pioneers of our faith wrote on the subject. I learned…

Spirit of Jesus or Spirit of Satan    The Spirit of God—what a subject! It has raised many debates. Yet, truth is for the poor in spirit. They, at least, are simple and humble enough to understand and to accept the truth as little children.     In this article my goal is to show the contrast that exists between Jesus’ Holy Spirit and the devilish spirit of Satan. I would like to begin by sharing some contrasting thoughts about Jesus and Satan and then share some thoughts about those who have walked in their footsteps, showing by their lives and…

The concept of submission and free will seem to be in opposition to each other in the human mind, and yet, this is the very heartbeat of heaven itself. The relationship between God and His Son is modelled after this pattern. Agape amongst all the heavenly hosts is made manifest by worship and adoration to God by a heartfelt, freewill response. When you think about it, worship by its true definition can only be of free will. Love can only be expressed in the framework of free will. Adoration and praise can only come as a heartfelt response. Do we…

Brethren and Sisters, The Coming Crisis is on it's way...Is the Lovely image of Jesus seen in our lives?  Are we reflecting him the way we know how?  It is not to long before Sunday Law is announced, Here we read in scipture the following... "And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a…

Imagine being compelled by a desire to be close to every single person you know. Maybe if you had lots of money and showered people with gifts you could certainly get people’s attention. Yet would they be close to you? Would they not be further away from you because the gifts you give become a replacement for yourself and your friends would desire your gifts more than they would desire you and your company. Such was the experience of the prodigal son when his money ran out.

When Abraham went into the tent with Hagar, I am sure his fervent desire was to honour God and help advance the work of God in bringing forth a seed as an heir to the promised kingdom. The work was going slow and when Sarah seemed willing to sacrifice herself in allowing Hagar to sleep with her husband, the plan seemed sound and something God would approve. After all, Hagar was only a servant girl and she would only serve a very minor role. She would remain simply a servant of Sarah and would have no part in the inheritance.

"But the serpent continued, in a musical voice, with subtle praise of her surpassing loveliness; and his words were not displeasing." Patriarchs and Prophets page 53. Reminds me of a One Direction song a lot of my students are obsessed with: "Baby you light up my world like nobody else, The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed, But when you smile at the ground it ain't hard to tell, You don't know, Oh oh, You don't know you're beautiful." It's true that many girls don't know they're beautiful, but your knowledge of your beauty shouldn't come from…

Part Two in a series of articles on the Little Horn of Daniel 8, and the Leopard-like beast of Revelation 13. Daniel  8:8 informs us that at the death of the he-goat (i.e Alexander the Great), his kingdom was divided among his generals. Verse 9 informs us that out of one of these three kingdoms would come a `little horn':  Daniel 8:9 -    And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land. This is of course the verse which has proven…

This is essentially an extract from Theos Volume 2 Pages 7-9 by Gary Hullquist. I strongly encourage the reader to read the entire volume 2 which contains several important considerations. The modern view of Ellen White’s Christology is that she experienced a fundamental reversal in her theology during the final years of her life, from an initial belief in a begotten Son of God, heavily influenced by her domineering husband, to an absolutely co-eternal second person of a triune God. We will examine the evidence in her own words of a consistent, persistent position, and continued belief in the literal…
A proper understanding of the covenants and beautiful quotes like this showed me that the law that Christ gave to Moses on Mount Sinai is just as much for us as it was for the people in the old testament. So what about the feasts? Are they part of the statutes and judgments?

Part 7 in a series of articles on the Little Horn of Daniel 8, and the Leopard-like beast of Revelation 13.   Perhaps the most sublime, yet misunderstood verse in the Bible is 1 John  4: 8: `He that loves not, knows not God, for God is love.'  The manner by which we perceive the love, or character of God directly affects the manner by which we perceive others and the salvation which has already been wrought for us at Calvary. It also directly affects how we perceive the manner by which God relates to us, for man's salvation is directly traced…

I have been putting this study on hold for some time now but eventually I felt compelled to do a study on ‘’the daily” in Daniel, particularly chapter 8 verse 11 Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.
